Diabetic Friendly Angel Wings
The sweetness and the crunch are the enticing things about angel wings. Generally, these are seen as the twisted ribbons that are coated with sugar. Angel wings are regarded as traditional pastry. It originated in the European region where the basic dough is shaped and deep-fried. It is easy to make but the taste it produces is nowhere near simple. No wonder these delights became an instant hit not only in the European countries. It was also introduced in the American cuisines and the diabetic friendly Tigard bakery.
Since these pastries are loved by almost everyone with a sweet tooth, creative minds decided to take it a notch further. They want to make diabetic friendly angel wings to make it available for those who like the sweet treat but not allowed because of their medical condition or life style.
These delights are loaded up with calories and sugar. This makes it a candidate for the "Do Not Include in Diet Plan List". Health conscious people hate counting the calories just by taking a bite. Diabetics, on the other hand, are very careful when eating these treats as too much sugar may put them into serious health risks.
In order to make diabetic friendly angel wings, bakeries such as the diabetic friendly Tigard bakery considered two things: the first is the main ingredient in making the dough which is the flour and the other is the sweetening agent which is the powdered sugar.
The ordinary white flour is the basic ingredient in making Angel Wings. It is also the same ingredient that contributes to the high number of carbohydrates. Luckily, flour can be substituted with another kind of flour that can produce the same great tasting Angel Wings but less than the carbs and calories. In fact, it adds up nutrients and fiber to these delights. This is through whole wheat flour.
The sweetening agent for the Angel Wings is powdered sugar. Of course, it takes no genius to know that in massive amounts, sugar can pose health threats to diabetics. If not completely eliminated in a food, it must at least be lessened. Instead of using the ordinary table sugar or powdered sugar, there are alternative sweeteners that can be used. Sugar alcohols such as Xylitol has been proven to effectively cut down the sugar in a food but still provide the same sweetness.
Thanks to the diabetic friendly Angel Wings. Now diabetics and health conscious people can taste the sweetness and savor the crunchiness that these goodies offer.
