Roses are one of the most popular types of flowers available in the Philippine market today. Although there are other flowers which are known to be more beautiful than a rose, such as tulips and orchids, roses are still very popular for many Filipinos. The reason why roses philippines became popular is that the flower is perfect for any kind of celebration, may it be in weddings, wedding anniversaries, birthdays, particularly in traditional occasions such as Valentine's Day.

Although roses became popular as a gift, particularly in the past, roses was first used as a way to convey special feelings as well as emotions to other people. This practice is known as floriography, or the language of flowers. Although roses were widely used in this practice, many other flowers have also been used in floriography. Although the practice have been widely forgotten, many species of roses are still used for this purpose, such as the reason why red roses are still used in Valentine's Day. This is because the red rose was known to symbolize love and deep respect.
Roses for the gods
Other than a symbol for a special feeling, roses were also known to symbolize a god. Because roses are symbols of love and beauty, roses became sacred to a number of goddesses such as Isis and Aphrodite. It was also used as a symbol for the the Virgin Mary which is why many Filipinos have used to offer roses philippines in Mother Mary's Day.

Similar to the sampaguita of the Philippines, roses are also known to symbolize a country. The rose is the national flower of England and the United States. Roses are occasionally the basis of design for rose windows, such windows comprising five or ten segments in which the five petals and five sepals of a rose. Roses were also used in paintings. One of the most popular rose paintings was that of Renoir's which was called Roses in a vase. Other than in paintings, roses was also used in popular quotes. One of the most popular quotes was "What's in a name? That which we call a rose" by William Shakespeare in his novel Romeo and Juliet.
