Czech CZ52 pistol question: will a stainless steel (aftermarket) barrel harm my CZ52 in any way?
I have an opportunity to purchase a (slightly used) stainless steel threaded barrel (in
7.62x25mm) for my CZ52 pistol.
The CZ52 is made of 1950's-vintage carbon steel. Will this stainless steel barrel scall or otherwise damage my pistol (due to differing steel hardness, ect.)? Also, I shoot a
lot of corrosive East Bloc ammo, will the stainless barrel be more resistant to damage
from this ammunition than the original carbon steel barrel?

Most modern semi-auto handgun barrels are made of stainless steel as it is. The CZ52 was made for the caliber you brought up and for 9mm. I could see and issue if your putting a 7.62x25 barrel in a 9mm gun if it can be done. For wear and tear on the parts it will come into contact with it wouldn't be any different. The stainless barrel would have a longevity edge over a carbon steel barrel but these guns could take tens of thousands of rounds before the barrel showed its age. As for corrosive ammo it will withstand the corrosive nature of old mil-surp ammo but still should be cleaned ASAP with hot water or windex, or whatever your personal method is as you would for any gun when you use corrosive ammo. Stainless steel is more resistant to rust but it can still rust.
