What's the brand name of the pottery clay that hardens without heat?
I've read about it on Internet but don't recall the name.
Amaco self-hardening clay might be what you're looking for, but it's not anywhere near as durable as clay that hardens in a kiln.
Here's a web site:

What's the best way to may clay pottery?
When I was a Sophomore in High school I was enrolled in a ceramics class. I really loved it and I have been thinking that I want to get back into it. I have a couple questions:
What is the best/cheapest clay I can buy myself?(brand name maybe?) Will a place like Color Me Mine let me use their kiln?
I found some in Amazon for a pretty good price but ik not sure it's good quality.
Color Me Mine is a paint your own pottery studio. They are set up to sell you bisque ware that you paint and then they will glaze and fire it for you. So the first thing is, you have to ask if they will fire work that you bring in. Sometimes a local studio like this will. Then if they will, the question is will you use their under-glaze paints and what is the cost.
So before you buy clay find out where you can fire your pieces and then you need to buy a clay that is right for the temperature they fire to. Most paint your own pottery studios low fire (cone 06) so you would need a clay that fires to that temperature.
For a low fire clay, you will have a choice of what color for the clay. I suggest white if you are using under-glazes, they will be brighter. There are other things to consider in buying clay besides temperature range and color -- grog (pre-fired clay) for strength. Check out link #1 for more information in choosing a clay body.
You can also go to my links page for a list of suppliers I use. There are many manufacturers -- I personally like Standard and Miller/Laguna. Check out the clay selection guide on link #2.
There are a lot of clays to choose from. It is a personal decision and really depends on what you will be making, how big and how you like to work. Good luck.
