My stoneware mugs didn't used to get hot in the microwave, but lately have started getting too hot to touch. W?
getting very hot to the touch. I have to use a pad to remove them. Is it safe to keep doing this? Will they explode? I have heated water in them for 5 or 6 years and this just started happening. Could it be something wrong with my microwave?
Look at the bottom rim of your mugs, is there an unglazed area? If so, water can seep into the inside of the mug while washing them and that is what is getting the mug hot when microwaving it.
There isn't really a way to correct it.
