I just bought my first piece of Pampered Chef stoneware - bar pan. Do I preheat the stone before cooking?
I tried to make store-bought frozen cookies and it took 20 minutes. Next time I preheated pan and it was better. Should I always preheat stones?
Stoneware takes longer to heat then most metal or glass pans which is why you're seeing the extended length of time.
My mother went crazy at a pampered chef party and threw out all our old glass/metal pans... so I'm pretty experienced.
We had the big baking pan... and I hated it with a passion. Personally, I hate it for cookies... since it takes longer you end up with flatter cookies that do not rise like they are supposed to. If you want to crisp something on the bottom it takes quite a while (and never think you'll get a good crisp pizza with the pizza stone unless you pre-heat.) You do need to be careful with temperatures. Don't put something frozen on a preheated pan, you risk cracking. With cookies you should/maybe be okay since they are small and you won't have a lot of transfer. Be careful with larger very cold things like frozen meat. And never-ever fill a hot/warm pan with water (even if it feels hot.) My mother has cracked several pans that way.
For cooking in general, their items are great. Baking? Not so much.
