Is the moment of inertia of a square plate and a cube is same and is ML^2/6?
i calculated the moment of inertia of a square plate with its axis passing through its centre by integrating the moment of inertia of rod and by using theorem of parallel axes. It was ML^2/6. Then i integrated it again to calculate the moment of inertia of cube. This time i did'nt use theorem of parallel axes as both the axes of plate and cube are same. Is this method correct? Are moment of inertia same for plate and cube?
You are correct.
This answer should be expected since a cube is simply a stack of square plates whose mass is proportional to the height of the stack.
