Pet responsibility
I am a dog owner. Two of them in fact, and I am constantly baffled at the reaction of strangers when I am performing the nasty but necessary task of whipping out the dog waste bags and cleaning up after them on a walk. People often seem surprised and look at me as though I'm doing something special or remarkable which I simple do not understand.
Doesn't everyone pick up after their dog, and if not, why?
Your dog is your responsibility and therefore so is the waste it leaves behind on a walk. The idea of a child playing in a park and slipping on dog feces is abhorrent to me so I can only imagine what a parent would think if their kid came running over covered in it.
Dog waste can ruin lawns, contaminate water, and be an overall nuisance for people having to avoid it when out on a simple walk.
Pet waste bags are inexpensive, packaged in a compact, easily carried manner and should be considered as necessary as a leash or collar for your furry friend. If they're not, perhaps it's time to rethink your responsibility as a pet owner. Dog parks and pet friendly trails are often outfitted with <a href=http://www.gabpproperty.com/paw-pal-pet-waste-clean-up-bags/pawbag>dog waste bags</a> for public use and this certainly does cut down on the amount of waste left behind, however, it's not the only solution. Pet owners need to step up on a regular basis and look after their neighborhoods and green spaces as well as they look after their pets.
If you're walking your four legged friends but aren't carrying a pet waste bag then you're not fully holding up your end of the bargain of pet ownership. Having a dog means more than fetch and chase and cuddles. It means cleaning up after them rather than making it the responsibility of your neighbor or park worker whenever your dog leaves behind an unwanted present.
