Fielding a weakend team?
Following all the stuff around Blackpool putting out a weak team and Ian Holloway threatening to resign if they get given a fine, I was just wondering if these premier league 'rules' apply to every team that fields a weakend side to the game before?
I know that Wolves got a fine last season for doing the same, but as a Sheffield United fan I quite clearly remember Man United resting a lot of their star players on the last day of the 06/07 season when they played West Ham (West Ham went on to win the game, meaning Sheff Utd went down...anyway...) as they had already won the title and needed to keep them fit for other competitions.
I personally believe you should be able to play whatever team you flamin' well want to. They're your players, they're on your books, and who's to tell you that that isn't your strongest team!?
Anyway...I was just wondering if Man.U ever got a fine for breaking this rule?
Or is this again an example of one rule for one team and not the 'big 4'
they didnt get a fine. Its a joke. The Premier League should leave the team selection to the managers and stop insulting the 'weakened' players that played. Not the leagues job to judge how good a player is. Do something useful like employing some good officials and fight for goal line technology instead of this crap
