Serving Bowls

In 1861, Isabella Beeton revolutionised domestic duties for women with her book 'Book of Household Management' in 1861. It was only the second book to give tested and itemised recipes, as well as many helpful hints and suggestions. The Victorians loved the use of milk, cream and honey in their cooking, considering these ingredients to be very nutritious. These recipes were delicious, yet simple to prepare:
Swiss Cream
1 ¼ cups thickened cream
6 sponge fingers
1 ¼ cups milk
1/8 cup sugar
¼ cup corn starch
Sherry or liquer
2 tbl lemon juice
Spread the sponge fingers out over the base of a serving bowl. Soak in alcohol. Using 1 tbl of the milk, mix the cornstarch into a paste. Put the remainder of the milk into a saucepan and allow to reach boiling point. Add the paste, stir, then add the whipped cream and lemon juice. Pour this mixture over the sponge fingers. Refrigerate. Serve decorated with citrus peel strips or sugared petals.
Fruit Fool
1 lb fresh fruit (apples, berries etc)
1 ¼ cups thick cream
Sugar
Simmer the fruit with a little water until very soft. Add sugar to taste. Cool well. Whip the cream until it forms stiff peaks and slowly fold into the fruit. Spoon into serving bowls or glasses. Decorate with sugared flower petals or tiny sweet biscuits.
Angel Food Fudge
2 ¼ cups sugar
2/3 cup cold water
2/3 cups honey
2 egg whites
2 tbl orange juice
1 cup chopped almonds
Pinch cream of tartar
Gently heat the sugar, water, and honey till dissolved. Add the cream of tartar. Boil to 240 degrees, using a sugar thermometer. Add this mixture slowly to beaten egg whites, stirring well. Stir till stiff. Add the almonds and orange juice. Press into greased or lined pans.

How do you keep food from sticking to silicone bakeware?
I just received silicone bakeware for my birthday. I brushed it with oil, floured, poured in the batter... and ended up serving bowls of cupcake pieces! Am I missing something here?
Everything i have read on silicone bakeware said to season the bakeware first by spraying it with oil before the first use and then you should never have to spray oil on it again. I oil mine everytime though and havent had a problem if it sticking.
