How to: steering wheel stitching
When I started to sew, the idea of sewing a cloth wheel or meeting seemed daunting to me. It looked so complicated and difficult than I assumed it was a technique for more experienced sewers. I was wrong, however, when my grandmother ignored my concerns and insisted that try. It turns out that sewing a steering wheel is one of those things that looks really hard to do, but is actually very simple! In fact, it could be one of the easiest techniques sewing there.
Step One: Cut a strip of cloth
The length, width, and type of fabric you use depends on your project. I cut a strip of arbitrary size of a sheet of vintage thrifted.
S tep Two: Set your sewing machine at the highest point.
This will keep your points big enough so you can easily get your material later. If the stitches are too small will be difficult do not break the thread.
Step Three: Sew a straight line down one edge of the fabric.
Leave an extra wire in the beginning and end. Do not go above its opposite ends to finish them or not be able to pick the fabric.
Step Four: Gather your fabric.
Pull one of the tracks (the top or the bottom line, not so much) and see the fabric together. Slide takes the track to prevent even, and make sure that does not include "not satisfied" at the other end of the strip. You can get as much or as little as you want, depending on how you want your flyers to be ruffly.
If you were adding it to a piece of clothing or a skirt collection, you'd need to go over your steering wheel with a smaller point, because basting is only temporary.
Variations:
You can string together two ends of the strip of cloth and put together the two edges for a look grooved. Or baste the middle of a strip of fabric (instead of the bank) and get a double-edged wheel.
