with the smell of cigarettes wafting from weary mouths.
The artists hit the floor broken
as glasses shatter at their hands
and after everything hits the wall.
You stood with me amid the licking flames of the world
but now you are gone

is blowing in the wind.
Your voice echoes in my mind
distorted by the ashtrays that you fed.
My insides bend with the current
of every passing thought
and every rose that ever wilted
shares the same story.
You passed me like the reflection of a comet
in a babies eyes

Now I stand, a red ember
as you sleep neatly tucked
beneath the earth
