How Does One Castrate a Rooster For Capon?
Now the reason I ask is because for my first wedding/marriage at the reception we dined on roasted stuffed boneless breast of capon.....why now, you wonder, all these years later, do I ask how one castrates a rooster to turn him into a capon,..... well blame Yahoo Answers lol...
So, as politely as possible, how did they they 'alter' the old rooster so he could be a tender morsel on my bridal dinner plate?
lol Rocky Mountain Oysters! My redneck ex in laws would have no trouble eating those but I doubt my own family would even know what they are....lol I could see their faces when told they were noshing on bull balls hahahahahaha.....
Caponizing is not just a simple snip. Its actually a surgical procedure. First you starve and dehydrate your rooster for 24+ hours, then tie it to a board with strings and weights. Make an incision between the two ribs closest to the thight. Using a spreader tool open up the incision, find the testes and pull them out of there. Sometimes you only get one out so you gotta flip the bird over and cut into the other side. Once you got the testes out untie the bird and thats about it. They usually heal without sutures and without meds.
