Why does black tea turn green in porcelain mug?
I noticed recently that when i leave the tea in the mug which is made up of porcelain, it turns green after some time. This doesn't happen on glass mugs. I'm using standard twinings earl grey tea bags. Any ideas?

Early Century Chinese Porcelain Wares
With the rise of world trade in the early 16th century, China started manufacturing Chinese porcelain exclusively for North America and Europe. Early Century Chinese wares, such as the ones discussed below, are treasured now amongst collectors and museums. The three main porcelain wares, while from the same material, are completely different in their appearance and uses.
-
Sancai Ware: Although Sancai means three-colors, these wares were not limited to just three colors. During the Tang Dynasty any Sancai wares had to have at least colors embellished upon them. By creating white and secondary kaolins, these pieces were finished by heating them in a clay oven. The effect was striking. Most Sancai ware pieces are used for Burial pieces. A lot of horses and camels were cast using this technique, creating the elaborate art pieces we have today.
-
Ding Ware: This early type of Chinese porcelain started in Ding Xian, now known as Chu-yang. During it's time, in 940, this was the finest and most popular type of porcelain that was being created in China. In fact, it was the first porcelain of that time to be allowed for Imperial use in the Palace. A glaze of pasty white was often used inside the actual plates, however, due to stacking limitations the edges were rimmed in precious metals. It was for this reason that many historians believe this type of porcelain ware declined.
-
Jian Tea Ware: Jian Blackwares was another commonly used name for this type of early century porcelain wares. It was created by using iron-rich clay that was locally dug. The bowls were fired up in extreme temperatures of up to 1300°C. It was essential that this firing atmosphere was oxidized. The glaze was similarly created by using glaze and wood-ash.
Sancai Ware, Ding Ware and Jian Tea Ware are all beautiful and historical early century Chinese wares that are still highly valued today. By learning a bit more about them, the reasons for their value instantly become clearer.

How to remove stains from high-fire glazed porcelain tiles on kitchen counter?
I have a brand new kitchen counter and noticed that the tiles stain easily, like from tea. The tile color is brown/moss. I've tried soap and warm water and it doesn't work. Any suggestions?
Use a "Magic Eraser" to clean the tiles and grout. If you need to, scrub with baking soda and rinse well. I would highly recommend you seal your tile to protect it! Wherever you bought your tile, they should also sell the appropriate sealers and/or cleaners to care for your tile.
