Escort cards and place cards, what names go on each?
My venue required that I assign specific seats at each table because it is a plated dinner. So I am going to have escort cards outside and place cards at each setting. What I am wondering is if on the escort cards I put the couple's name together or the individual guests each get a card? All couples would obviously be seated at the same table so is it correct to have one card for Mr. and Mrs. Smith at table 1. Then at the table a card for each separately?
Also if anyone has any ideas for something elegant to embellish a very simple ivory tented card?
Escort cards can group people together; for example, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" or "Jane Smith and guest." There are a number of really good ideas online (www.theknot.com, for example, has a ton of great pictures). Place cards should be written individually (obviously).
Place cards and escort cards are relatively easy to embellish yourself. Adding a line of ribbon, a button, a leaf, a bloom, or even a tasteful sticker can dress them up. See this website for ideas: (http://www.beau-coup.com/themed-wedding-place-cards.htm). They are pre-printed cards, but you could do it yourself, easily.
Personally, I would find a simple stamp at the craftstore that was appropriate to our theme, and then use a metallic-inked stamp pad to create an elegant design.
