Plated Gold Roses
When it comes to that special someone in your life, you know they deserve the very best when it comes to gift giving. While traditional gifts are always lovely and appreciated, some of them don't last as long as we want them to. Roses, for example, are the acknowledged way of saying "I love you," but once their time has passed, they wilt and die. Plated gold roses, on the other hand, are a wonderful keepsake that will last a lifetime.
Plated gold roses are usually handcrafted using a real rose. They are selected when they have reached the peak of their beauty and are then preserved in a lacquer shell so as to maintain all of their original flowery details. The next step in the process is for the rose to be dipped and plated in gold – 18 karat, 24, karat, etc. - so their natural exquisiteness can be preserved forever. The creation of plated gold roses is a long one – up to 40 carefully crafted steps and five days are spent by artisans and technicians creating a flawless flower that is both unique and one-of-a-kind.
The tradition of gardening goes back a long way; its earliest known origins are of planted roses by nomadic humans. Blooming of the earliest known roses, however, dates back as far as 35 million years ago, with rose fossils having been found in Europe and petrified rose wreaths unearthed in ancient Egyptian tombs. Both the Greeks and the Romans were known for their use of roses although the Romans outdid the Greeks in this regard when 1st century emperor Nero dumped tons of the fragrant flower on his dinner guests. Romans were also the ones who cultivated the beautiful flower and called it Rose Gallica. In addition, when couples married, they would often be crowned with roses. The petals of roses were also often used in poultices by women of high society in ancient Rome as they believed they would ward off wrinkles. And, the petals were also often dropped in wine as it was thought their essence would prevent drunkenness.
In ancient Egypt, Marc Antony - known as Cleopatra's ill-fated lover – often went to visit the queen and when he did, she would ensure to fill her living quarters with roses so he would remember her for her opulence. He would also think of her every time he smelled a rose.
While plated gold roses may not be quite as revered as the real flower was in Rome and Egypt, they have their place in today's modern world. With their unusual and hand-crafted appeal, plated gold roses are the perfect gift for the discerning collector, flower lover, or to simply say the person receiving them is very special indeed.

What You Need To Know Before Buying Gold Jewelry
Buying jewelry can be exciting and fun but also confusing. Whether for yourself or for that someone special, it is important to learn the lingo of the industry. Use this information to help you get the highest quality jewelry for your money, especially when shopping at your local retail jeweler.
The metal called gold is 24 karat (24K), which means if broken into 24 parts that all 24 parts are pure gold. Since 24K gold is too soft to be used for jewelry by itself, it is combined with other metals to improve its durability and hardness. If the piece of jewelry is not 24 karat, then the karat quality should marked along with the claim that it is gold.
The karat quality mark indicates what proportion of the jewelry is gold versus other metals. For example, if it is 14 karat (14K) jewelry, it contains 14 parts of gold with 10 parts of another metal mixed in. The higher the karat rating, the higher the proportion of gold in the jewelry.
Although not required by law, most jewelry is marked with its karat quality. Next to the karat quality mark should be the name of the company that stands behind the mark. Instead of a name, is could be a symbol or initials. If you don't see the company with a quality mark on a piece of jewelry, don't buy it.
Solid gold refers to a piece made of any karat gold where the inside not hollow. The proportion of gold in the item is determined by the karat mark.
Jewelry can be plated with gold in several ways. Gold plated refers to items that are either electroplated, mechanically-plated, or plated some other way to a base metal. Unfortunately, gold plating wears away eventually depending on how thick the plating is and how often the jewelry piece is worn.
Gold electroplate describes jewelry with a layer of at least 10 karats placed on a base metal through an electrolytic process. Gold-flashed or gold-washed describe jewelry that has a very thin electroplating of gold. These will wear out faster than gold plated, filled or electroplated.
Terms used to describe mechanically-plated gold jewelry are gold-filled, gold overlay and rolled gold plate. Each involves at least 10 karats mechanically bonded to a base metal. If the piece of jewelry has a mark with one of these terms, you will see it following the karat quality (for example, 14K Gold Overlay).

What is electro gold plate? In reference to jewelry?
I need to know about electro gold plated jewelry? Is it different from regular gold plated jewelry? Does it last longer?
it's the exact same thing. How plating works is one wire is attatched to the metal you want to use as a plate, most commonly used on gold is rhodium. Next a wire is attatched to the piece of jewelry you want to be plated. Both wires are hooked up to a voltage regulator. One to the + side and one to the - side. A very low voltage low amperage current is used. Both the donor metal and the jewelry are dipped into a solution that promotes travel of metal molecules, depending on the metal the solutions differ. The molecules from the donor metal flow along the electric current and attatch themselves to the jewelry.
So to make a long story short, elctro plating is the same exact thing as plating just a more fancy term.
