How do I know if my neighbor's handicapped license plate is legal?
My neighbor is a scam artist. He is also not handicapped. One day, a used-looking handicapped plate showed up on his van. There is no designated handicapped parking so I suspect it's illegal. How do I find out?
Get the license number, contact the DMV, provide the number and the name of the person that you think is the owner of the plate. The customer rep will look up the record, if the record belongs to someone else, action will be taken, however, since you are not the owner of the plate, you will not receive any info regarding action taken, it is strictly private information. You're call will be very much appreciated, oftentimes when a family member who had a disabled/handicapped placard/plate passes, a family member will keep it and use it, illegally. Also, in some cities, disabled plates/placards are sold for high dollars, parking privileges are a premium in some areas and people steal the plates/placards. Make that call. You also can contact the police with the license number and the name, they also can check the record.
