I want to dye a pillar candle I have from white to brown, how do I do this?

There are a lot of different options really for you. The one that fits your description isn't something most people do, but is easy enough if your candle isn't too large.

At your local hobby store you can generally get the supplies you need. You'll need perifin wax; choose one intended for use in candle making. Make sure you get a solid wax, and not something like a granule, gel, or beeswax. More expensive waxes will have a higher melting temperature, and may not work for what you want to do, so it's okay to be cheap. In addition to wax you'll need a wax dye of some type. This will be sold in the same section of the store as the wax. If you're uncertain ask a sales person, and they can help you choose the right one.

The basic idea is you're going to melt your new wax with a dye of your choosing, and re-dip your old candles. You'll have to do this several times most likely before you get a thick enough coat.

It's also important that before you begin to dip your candles that you clean them well. You will want to remove all dust, and dirt before you dip your candles, as it can inhibit the wax from sticking to your candle properly

Google is full of articles, and DIY sites that have tons of helpful information on candle making. Check with your local hobby store or community center as they're likely to have candle making classes and workshops.
