Priceless family heirloom. Fine china. How much is it worth?
My great-grandmother died years ago and it came to the attention of everyone that I was the only girl to receive all the heirlooms in my family. I've seen a ton of things recently, from quilts to bibles, and in the end, I ended up with some fine china on my hand. Noritake China, made in japan. My grandmother got them when my grandfather went to Korea and got the opportunity to go to Japan during the Korean war. I want to know what kind of value I have on hand, so I can treat it with the proper respect.

I own a set of Noritakes bought in the early 1970's and I intend one of my grandchildren to have it.
You will have to send me a picture by email so that I'll have a fair idea of how much it could be worth. How many pieces in the set? Is it still complete? The company came up with several designs over the years.I suggest you keep it in your china cabinet and treasure your set. Don't sell it...use it (carefully please and for special occasions only), then pass it on to the next generation.
Noritake China and Dinnerware would be in the US $450-500 for a set. Actually if older than 50 years, the price goes up.
Noritakes come from a Japanese village called Noritake and the first Noritakes in the U.S. came in 1914. The unique, intricate and elegant designs and gold enameling were features that drew a following in many parts of the world.
The fact that your Noritakes were first owned by your grandma is a big thing. For sentimental reasons, try keeping it within your family. Should you find a need to sell it, find a relative who is willing to buy it from you.
