suggestions? Really annoyed about lack of improvement?
I'm in my 30's, have had 2 kids. I been working out now for 4 months, 5 days a week 30 plus minutes. I huse a Nordic Track, incline trainer and i do some seriuos cardio, running/ climbing. I have only lost about 5 lbs. I'm 5'2, 135 lbs. I got 10 lbs to go to my goal, i know that is the hardest to lose. I eat decent, I do have like a week each month where the hormones go hog wild, and I eat more than i should. I work my butt off outside every spare minute I have doing hard landscaping labor, moving boulders, dimantling rock gardens, digging up and moving shrubs, ect. so whats the deal, shouldnt i be seeing more results?
I may only be a 15 year old 11th grade male, but trust me when i say this; always remember to load your body with excess food than it needs once every two weeks.
But now down to the main question. As for results, with that much training the outcome must be greater, but now here is the catch. As the body ages the effeciency of the thyroid gland seems to dwindle each year. This is logical since the body is no longer growing, and it is slowly deteriorating.
The older a person gets, the less calories they require to survive; and depending on your height, you may not need to consume the current amount of calories you are consuming now. My first tip advice is to keep a food log just for one day, and track the amount of calories you consume. Just do, and eat, anything you would eat on any given day.
My second tip of advice is to reduce your calories by just 200 calories, or up the calories and reduce the carbohydrates - you may have heard that reducing carbohydrates reduces fat. This statement is true, if it is followed to the book. I would say just reduce the carbs to 50 grams a day and keep your calories at the same level. This should produce better results, as a result of less muscle glycogen levels.
Use the above mentioned regime in conjunction with exercise and see where it takes you. You can always reduce the calories and eat low fat, but it takes a will power that most people do not possess (trust me on this).
You can try and take the carbohydrates further down, but, remember to up the fat, and not too overdo the protein - since protein can be used to produce glucose through gluconeogenesis.
