What does it mean by recreate?
On my art project paper, it says: The assignment is to recreate one work of art that your famous artist did. I choose to do Monet's garden at/of giverny the purple flowers. And i did it using tissue paper to pop up. I have no idea if im doing it wrong, cause people from my class are doing paint, chalk, pastels, crayons, and pencil crayons. I wanted to be unique and do tissue paper.
I think "Jay" is only partially correct. To recreate means to create again. So, your assignment WAS to create your selection of Monet's garden.
However, since Monet's work is an oil on canvas, then all of those other students who are working in chalk, pastels, crayons, color pencils and other media, would also be getting it wrong, if your tissue paper work is also wrong.
So, unless your teacher expects EVERYONE to suddenly become expert in oil on canvas, then your tissue paper creation should be considered a VERY original interpretation of the piece. For good grades on this project, be sure to work at getting the composition and colors as correct as you can make it. If you take it too far from the original, you may be missing the point of the exercise.
