Majolica Pottery
Hi Pottery experts - I have this majolica (?) bird and wondered if anyone knew a rough age / region of origin?
Heres a picture - the figure is approximately 10 cm tall:
The first answer is mostly good, although a lot of majolica ware was made in Britain as shown on Antiques Road show. I agree that this was probably slipcast in the 50's or 60's when a lot of people were doing ceramic painting on bisque fired slip cast items from shops, a few of which are still around - I was in one here in Dallas several years ago.
