What are some good RPGs that are rewarding to play as an evil aligned character?
I've noticed in my many years of gaming that developers seem to define "evil" as merely being a jerk in conversation. This, coupled with preferences to primary characters with high personality or charisma (D&D style games) always pigeonholes me into playing some sort of good aligned paladin so that I feel like I am milking the most out of quest dialog and rewards.
Are there any games where playing an evil character truly make you feel like an insidious mastermind, and not just some schmuck who picks the option to steal the little girl's ice cream rather than find her lost puppy?
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic playing dark side will grant you unique powers such as Force Lightning and Choke
Oblivion has an amazing questline for the Assassin's guild
Fallout 3 Allows you to detonate an aged Nuclear Bomb just for the hell of it.
Dragon Age: Origins allows you to be pretty evil
Mass Effect is more of the Jerk appeal that you're avoiding, but none the less it's a fantastic game (And the Jerk Responses are generally hilarious)
