Question for people who do pottery / ceramics.....?
I have some lovely pottery mugs. They are plain white glazed, except they have a small green pattern printed on the one side which I'm not too keen on anymore & would like to remove or cover up.....
Does anyone know if there's a way I can do this without damaging the mug, or something I could do to cover the pattern? I'm not sure just painting over it would work.

Yes I do have a "do it yourself" pottery place nearby, so maybe i'll try that...thankyou
Depending on what kind of paint is underneath to begin with, it MAY be possible to re-glaze. Do you have access to a professional kiln? Do you know someone who glazes their own pottery?
You can not just paint over it. It would have to be fired in a kiln.
You could risk damaging your mugs, so I would definitley seek professional help. Do they have places like "Paint it Your Way" where you live? They might let you bring your own mugs in, but I doubt they will guarantee the outcome since they already have a glaze on there to begin with. It may need to be sanded off first.
This does not sound like a do-it-yourself project to me.
Another idea is to ask the art department at your local college. A student or staff member might help you out.
