How to cope the small flying insects living on the compost of my new indoor plant?
I am very interested in planting and as I don't own a yard and a small garden, I am doing some indoors. To fill the vases and grow the seeds (sowing) it is necessary to use compost. But unfortunately, from the time I have filled the vases, the number of tiny, black, very weak, flying insects in my flat has increased. I found out that they live on the fresh compost. I am not happy with them and they are increasing day by day. Can anyone give me a favour and tell me how I can overcome this problem? Thanks.
Sounds like fungus gnats. The larvae can kill small plants by eating the roots. Bt has controlled them for me in the past.

Even if they're not fungus gnats, this strain of Bt (israeliensis) should work on all flies. catch one, look at it under a magnifying glass, if they have only one pair of wings, it's a fly.
