How tall is too tall for a centerpiece?
My mom has me second guessing myself. The tables sit 8-9 people (120 inches) and I want to set bouquets of fresh flowers in vases that are about a foot in height. She says it will entirely too tall. They aren't that wide - only about 4 -6 inches wide out the mouth of the vase. What's your opinion?
I should also add that the place we having the reception at is a historic home and the room is not extremely large. We are nearly at max capacity. Sorry for the failure to add!
Your mom is right. 1ft is too tall. Rule of thumb is to have them no taller than 8" and make sure there is room for the place settings and other stuff on the tables without being crowded. Speaking from experience, I attended a holiday dinner a number of years ago that had beautiful centerpieces but no one could see through them or over them at all and they were 12-15" tall and 8-10" or so wide. You could only see and talk to the people to your immediate left or right which made the even really not that enjoyable.
