From China to porcelain
Porcelain, is now so widely available and as a good every day, which could easily overlook how different it was.
The West was introduced to Oriental porcelain as early as mid-15th century, when it appeared precious examples Lisbon Portugal, being the first to acquire the commercial rights to Imperial China.
Before that, porcelain, Chinese and Japanese, has been seen in Europe as a substance mystical, almost, magical properties, a place that few knew of, say, had been. Most information is still based on the visit by Marco Polo in 1275.
An anecdotal history we mean the last will and testament left by the first Queen Elizabeth, who died in 1603. sale between the personal effects of Queens was a bit of a bowl of Chinese porcelain tea certainly produced during the Ming dynasty, probably around 1550.
This precious object was not considered only as a rare and valuable, but it has magic, if not, the properties of life saving! It was commonly believed that this mysterious shallow container of the "Middle Kingdom", in turn, black must contact poison! This story had come to England from Italian Medici court, where the poison was a very real threat to the royal family!
The mystery secret of porcelain production was kept secret until 1704 when it was rediscovered in the state Electoral Saxony (now northern Germany) under the patronage of Augustus, elector of Saxony and king of Poland.
Augustus was a fanatical collector of porcelain Japanese, in particular, and go to extreme lengths to acquire pieces for his collection, with much of his collection of earrings that can still be seen today in day.
From these early 18 th century, porcelain from China and Japan began to reach Europe. The attractiveness of the market was immediate, and oriental porcelain became angry. It is worth remembering that we call porcelain "China", because that's where he comes!
Ceramics per se, are top of the list to be a visual indicator to survive social change throughout history. Since prehistoric times served, usually, fragments, or pieces broken fired ceramic that are kept low to give us a revelation view of life of men and women as far back as you can go.
