Do the Dutch buy Deflt Blauw pottery? Or is it just for tourists?
What makes it so special? Is it supposed to be used, or displayed? Any tips on buying any? Anything to look for in regards to quality?
Dutch people, like my grandparents and my parents, used to have a special china they used on Sunday and for special occasions. Often they showed it in a cupboard with a glass window so you could see it.
Look at the bottom for the stamp of were it is made. The real thing is hand painted and it has a stamp on the bottom that says it is hand painted and also were it is made or the artist name on it. And the price shows you that it is real.
Some people like a certain china like my sister. She is using it every day and she likes it very much. It depends what kind of style you want in your house.
Also the price Will tell you if it's the real thing.
In almost every 'big' town you find shops who are specialized in china. They sell only the more expensive but real china. You find there all kinds of china and you probably can help you if you can't buy it from them.
Look in Delft, the place were it is made.
