how come my Dish PVR wont record shows i want recorded?
we've had our dish for years now, and a year ago we switched to the newer dish that records, rewinds, fast forwards, pauses, and timers and stuff. it worked for a year or so and now all of a sudden i mark something to time and record [so it comes on when im sleeping or not home and records it so i can watch it later]you get like 98 hours to record. all of our stuff just dissappeard! and everytime we want to time and record it says its working but then when i go to watch it, it isnt there! i know nobody around is deleting it because all of my familys shows have been deleted. why is it doing this?
Do you have Dish Network or Direct TV? We have Dish, and it has done the same thing to me with our DVR. It irritates me like nothing else...UGH!!!
Anyway...have you tried to reset the box? Do so by holding the power button until it turns off and it will come back on automatically, or unplug the box for about 5 minutes. This always works for me.
What usually happens when mine doesn't record (but shows the recording as being taped when scheduled) is that the satellite has lost signal. This does this to mine quite often, the last time (yesterday) was because we had heavy rain for 2 days and the LNB (on satellite) was full of water.
Whichever provider you have, I would call them. Also, DO NOT let them tell you that they are going to charge you for coming out and servicing your satellite. Tell THEM that you are not paying for it, and you will switch to their competitor. I did this and they 'waived' the $99 service call. It's unfair anyway...it's their equipment that we pay to lease and then they want to charge again to fix their problems.
