Question about an old asian vase I aquired...?
A relative of mine died about 12 years ago. The woman was in her 80's. Our family had an estate sale, where I was told I could pick out one thing of hers to keep. (Lovely family, huh?)
Anyways, I saw a cloissonne' vase that caught my eye. It is about 8 inches high, and has a rusty-red color (ox blood?) body to it. The design on it, is of a dragon. (However, there are parts of it that are chipped.) Interestingly though, I noticed through the chipped parts, that underneath the glaze, are silver-colored wires, wrapped around the entirety of the vase. (For the rim of the vase at the top, there is a tarnished brass ring.) I apologize for not being able to include a photo, but would anyone know a good place to start looking (as far as its origins may be)? Or could it just be an early last-century piece of junk (not necessarily "junk", but you know?)
you have an enameled cloissonne vase
