I have a bronze signed by H. Siburg,engraved Garanti Au Titre then LV Deposee 7952. Anyone know this artist?
This is very art deco about 16 inches tall, of a lady with her head resting on her hand sitting on a flower branch the bottom of the sculpture is a a flat spread leaf, sort of gold in color.
I don't know the specific artist, but Garanti Au Titre in French literally means "guaranteed to the title". LV Deposee is another part of the foundry mark that indicates that it is "trademarked". The big number is the number of the bronze itself in the lot that was created. Having the artist signature makes it more valuable than without the signature. My guess is that it may be art nouveau rather than deco, because of the flower branch. These periods were contemporary to each other and just because the women may be wearing fashion of the time, they can be confused. If it is very geometric, it is deco and if it looks more organic, with curving lines, it is nouveau. do not try to clean or shine it without an expert's knowledge....the original patina can sometimes add to the value.
