Do engine covers actually serve any practical purpose?
Many modern cars come with plastic covers over the engines.
Do these things actually serve any functional purpose, or are they just there to look pretty or make the engine compartment look less scary to your mom and your sister?
It seems to me most of them would just decrease cooling and increase weight. Do any of them actually DO anything...like are any actually sculpted to channel air flow to AID cooling or air intake? That's the only use I can think of...but are there any others?
Hell, it doesn't look like most would even do that.

How do I get rid of "flying gnats" in my covered patio?
It seems they are attracted to the coolness of our patio. I've tried the sprays designated for flying insects and gnats, but it only serves to shoo them away for awhile, and then they return. I don't like to keep spraying since we hang out in our patio area all the time. We've had this problem before, but it seems there are more of them. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them for good?
Fill a sandwich-size Ziploc bag about half full of water. Tape the top of the bag to the outside of your door. Replenish the water as needed. it will repel flying insects. this works. we have been doing this in the south for eons.
