Can you add hot chocolate to a coffee maker?
I wondered if you can add hot chocolate to the beans of the coffee maker? I am trying to acheive half coffee/half hot chocolate (doesn't need to be perfect) blend.
Gack! Don't do it!!!! I did (once) and ruined a coffee brewer! Here is why. The hot chocolate powder is very light. When brewing, the hot water saturates the coffee grounds. The hot chocolate is so fine that it clogs the filter, and causes the water to rise over the top of the filter and all over everything, and in the case of the Mileta coffee brewer, back over the motor. It was VERY bad, and VERY messy!
Best way, is to brew the coffee and then add the hot chocolate. I do this every morning. Two tablespoons of hot chocolate powder, 1 tablespoon of half and half, and fill the cup with coffee. Mix with a mini wire wisk (available at Target and Wal-Mart for under a buck).
