Can anyone calculate slope for me for a roller coaster? Help me set up the equation?
the only details I can give are stats about the coaster. length=3828' height=90' drop = 87' speed = 55.9
duration = 2:02 with no inversions.
don't know if that is enough info to get anywhere with the calculation
I'm not sure what method they want you to use, but IF you can neglect wind resistance and rolling friction, you can balance the accelerations to get the angle of the hill. The acceleration down the hill is gravity*cos(angle of hill) = your actual acceleration (velocity/time) 55.9/2.02. And just solve for the angle.
