Where can i fire my pottery?
How would i find a place in my city where they'd fire stuff that i made (out of clay) .. Haha i can't really afford a kiln right now.
If you don't really have any experience firing it is definitely NOT something you want to experiment with on your own. If the piece is no more than 1.5 inches in any spot (preferred), has no air bubbles or non-ceramic particles in the clay, has not been painted, is "Bone Dry" (if you lick it the clay absorbs the moisture), and is small enough to fit in a kiln (no more than 24 inches high approx)-- than you should probably be okay finding a place to fire it. Colleges are a great place to locate kilns (depending on the time of year however, they can become very busy with students work), but generally they will be happy to tell you a local place that can help you. It shouldn't be too expensive, a half to full kiln load generally will cost from $20-50. If you are interested in learning how the kilns work, they probably will be happy to tell you. It's a process that can take up to week to fully dry. Look up community art classes that offer pottery or ceramics courses, they should have a kiln available-- and maybe sign up for a class as well!
