How do use charger plates?
Think of the charger like a placeholder for a dinner with multiple courses... the dining dishes go on top of it in sequential order.
For example: The pasta course is complete and it's time to serve the fish course. Clear the pasta plate, but leave the charger in place, then set the fish plate on the charger.
The plates change, but from appetizers to dessert (or whatever order you are going in), the charger never moves.
If you are serving family style, where the plates are not cleared between courses, then chargers usually are not used.
