Where can I find out what my antique ceramic pitcher and bowl sets are worth?
I have two different sets that I found in the upstairs crawlspace of my house. One is from William H. Grindley, and the other is from Johnson brothers. They are both really nice with raised flowers on them and gold trim. I guess I just don't know where to look. I've looked in books and couldn't find anything, and when I see pitcher and bowl sets in "antique" type stores, there is nothing in the same league as what I have. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks
Have you googled this info that you have at all?
Also, what I've recently found out from experience, that what you have in your house, take a pic of, print them out. On the backs write ALL the information that you need (ie: any label info, any markings on the bottoms, condition of the item, are they hand painted or foiled?, etc etc) Take an afternoon to go to the antique store area of your town where you live with these pics. I did this cause I had a bunch of different items, and the store owners were all really excited that I had brought them the pics instead of loading up everything and having to take it here and there. If you live in an area that has multiple shops in one specific area, they will all know each other and what each other are looking for!
BARE IN MIND: although you don't know the year of these pieces, anything that dates back to WWII or before, is considered an "antique" anything after that is considered a "collectible" meaning the worth of the item is up to how much it'll be worth PERSONALLY to each person/collector! (I learned this from a lot of time on the internet on this subject!)
